Prior to joining the Royal Family, Meghan Markle was best recognized for her role as paralegal Rachel Zane in the television series Suits.
When Meghan met Prince Harry and married into the Royal Family, becoming the Duchess of Sussex, many of her original followers questioned if she would ever return to her former career.
Meghan has previously spoken about this, providing a clear answer to the topic of whether she will ever return to acting.
In a 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, Meghan revealed that she never expected to return to the industry after leaving it in 2018.
However, she recognized that the ‘entire culture’ has shifted.
She was also questioned explicitly if she could ever see herself working in that industry again, to which she offered a rather firm answer.
“I left Suits right after the 100th episode, in 2018,” she stated.
“I never thought I’d be in the entertainment industry again. But the entire culture has shifted; streamers have altered things. The potential to generate zeitgeist moments, like we did in the 1990s, where everyone would tune in at the same time for a show or congregate for a single moment, does not exist anymore.”
She went on to say, “When I was filming Suits, that character, Rachel Zane, was in your living room with you, eating Chinese takeout in your jammies. That’s how connected the experience seemed back then.
“To create a cultural moment or conversation today, however, takes a new approach. In that regard, podcasting has been really interesting.
“It might be one of the last surviving venues where people can listen alone. Where else would you have the opportunity?”
When asked if she will return to acting, she replied, “No.” I am done. I suppose never say never, but my intention is definitely not.”
Netflix’s chief content officer recently revealed that Meghan and Harry have many projects in the works that are now ‘in development’.
At a Hollywood gathering, Bela Bajaria asked, “Oh, what are they working on?” They are working on a few unscripted projects with Brandon.
