Her longtime friend, Dan Harary, shared that she succumbed to a prolonged illness.

Originally from Beaumont and Dallas, Texas, Jill pursued her dream of acting after completing her education, moving to Los Angeles where she secured her first significant role as the lead in Nurse Sherri in 1977.
In addition to her on-screen work, Jill also demonstrated her creative talents behind the camera as an executive producer for projects such as The Circle and the 2014 short film Mic Whore.

The news of the actress’s death was shared by her close friend, Dan Harary, who informed The Hollywood Reporter about this heartbreaking event. He disclosed that Jill passed away on December 8 at Cedars-Sinai’s Culver West Health Center after a prolonged illness.
In his tribute, Dan expressed, “Her absence will be profoundly felt by many family members, friends, and her cherished dogs, Benny and Kowalski.”

In September 2024, Jill shared that she had been receiving treatment for esophageal cancer, describing the ordeal as extremely tough. She fought with the disease for more than two and a half years.
“What I went through was pretty intense. You can’t function, you just can’t function,” she mentioned during her appearance on The Jim Masters Show on YouTube.
Despite the challenges, she found a way to turn her heartbreaking diagnosis into a source of strength, although it wasn’t easy at the beginning.
“It’s been a secret. Kind of took me out of the game for a while,” she explained. “It was esophageal cancer. It took like two, two and a half years of treatment.”

After receiving a cancer diagnosis, Jacobson became a passionate volunteer and advocate for the American Cancer Society. Her commitment to this cause brought her several accolades for her advocacy, as reported by The Independent.

Tragically, Jill Jacobson’s life came to a close at the age of 70. Her manager, Ben Padua, shared the sorrowful news with Entertainment Weekly.
“We are heartbroken to bid farewell to our wonderful, vibrant, and hilariously witty client, Jill Jacobson,” Padua stated in a message to EW. “Jill was a fiery actress with impeccable comedic timing reminiscent of the Marx Brothers and the glamour of Hollywood’s golden era.”
