Steve Anthony, a man who is homeless and has terminal bone cancer, and his dog River, who was badly injured after being hit by a vehicle, received a heartwarming surprise during the Christmas season. The accident occurred while Steve was working at a Christmas tree lot in Roseville, California.
Regrettably, the individual who hit the dog didn’t stop, but Jenifer Martin, who was driving behind, stopped to assist. She took River to the Pet Emergency Center and paid all the money she had at the moment for the 9-month-old dog.
River, who had suffered a fractured pelvis, was in critical condition. Jennifer started a fundraiser for River and Steve on Facebook, and within 48 hours, over $9,000 was raised, allowing River to undergo a successful surgery.
The funds raised were enough for Steve to afford temporary housing while River recovered. They will be staying in a hotel for a week. This was a wonderful surprise for them during the holiday season!
