One of Australia’s best-known jewellers—whose designs were worn by Taylor Swift and Rose Byrne—has died, prompting a wave of tributes from high-profile figures.
Australia’s media and creative communities are mourning celebrated jewellery designer Jan Logan, who has died aged 86.
The beloved designer and mother of three, known for pieces worn by stars including Rose Byrne, Taylor Swift, and Tina Arena, died on Saturday.
Her death was confirmed overnight on social media, with the family yet to release further details.
A tribute was posted to the official JL Instagram account alongside a black-and-white portrait of Ms Logan, marking her life as “1939–2026.”
The obituary honoured the 86-year-old’s legacy and remarkable journey.
“With great sadness, we announce that our founder, Jan Logan, passed away peacefully in Sydney earlier today, surrounded by family,” the statement said.
“Born in Narrabri, Jan raised her family on a farm before moving to Sydney. Jan’s country upbringing fed her imagination and nurtured her pragmatic and indomitable spirit.

“Launching the business in 1989 at the age of 50, Jan went on to build a loyal following for her signature designs that blended classic elements with a contemporary edge.
“Jan’s influence on Australian creative industries was considerable. While we mourn the loss of a visionary and beloved matriarch, we celebrate the enduring beauty she left behind—a legacy that will continue for years to come.”

The post, which has drawn more than 16,000 likes, quickly filled with messages from fans and admirers sharing their grief and appreciation.

Highly respected across film, television, and fashion, Logan opened her first boutique in 1989 at the age of 50.
The brand now operates three stores nationwide in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.
Over the decades, she built one of Australia’s most recognisable jewellery labels and became a long-time supporter of the local screen industry, including sponsoring the Australian Film Awards.
