We have heard a lot from Michael J Fox in recent months. It’s unfortunate that his health has gone downhill considerably and he admits that he doesn’t have a lot of years left to live.
When we think about Michael J Fox, the first thing that typically comes to mind is his role in the movie, Back to the Future. We might also think about the work he has done for those with Parkinson’s disease, but there is something else he is known for as well.
Michael J Fox loves animals, and one of the animals he has had for quite some time is Gus. Gus is a Labrador/Great Dane mix and was 12 years old when he recently passed away.
Anybody who has a dog realizes how important they are for us when we are going through difficult times. Gus has been there with Fox for many years, and he is devastated at the loss.
Michael J Fox shared a message on social media, saying: “Gus — great dog and loyal friend, we’ll miss you.”
Fox also spoke about how important Gus was for his battle with Parkinson’s disease. Many of us have looked on from the outside but Gus was there on the inside each and every day.
He said that having a dog by his side was inspiring and comforting. “You know that no matter your situation, no matter what you feel, this animal is with you and is connected to you. And you feel. It’s a force multiplier.”
We are saddened for Fox and his loss. We hope that he finds comfort in this difficult time.
