Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Actress Beloved Dies at 60 After Tragic New York City Accident
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel actress Wenne Alton Davis has died at the age of 60 after being struck by a car in New York City. The fatal accident occurred Monday evening as she was crossing the street, and she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Wendy Davis, known professionally as Wenne Alton Davis, was hit by a vehicle around 9 p.m. while crossing at the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway, according to authorities. She was born in 1965.
As a result of the collision, Davis suffered severe trauma to her head and body. Emergency responders transported her to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The driver, a 61-year-old man operating a 2023 Cadillac XT6, remained at the scene following the accident. As of Wednesday, no charges had been filed and no arrest had been made. Entertainment Weekly reported that Davis had been out to dinner with friends and was walking toward the train station when the accident occurred.
The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is continuing to investigate the incident.
“[Davis] sustained severe trauma to the head and body,” police said in a statement to People Magazine. “EMS responded and transported [Davis] to Mount Sinai West, where she was pronounced deceased.”
Authorities added that the driver was not injured and that the investigation remains ongoing.
Davis’ manager, Jamie Harris, told The New York Times that she moved to New York City in her 20s to pursue stand-up comedy. She later shifted her focus to acting and worked at JFK International Airport to support herself while building her career.
“I can only describe Wenne Davis as a bright light,” Harris said in a statement. “She had a huge love for New York, for acting, for her colleagues at JFK, and, most of all, her family and her circle of friends, which was also huge. Kindness and friendliness weren’t just things she did—they were who she was.”
Wenne Alton Davis appeared in a 2023 episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and also had roles in the television series Blindspot and New Amsterdam, as well as the film The Normal Heart.
She is remembered for her warmth, talent, and deep love for the city she called home. Rest in peace, Wenne Alton Davis.
