In a statement provided to The Hollywood Reporter, his loved ones expressed their grief: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother and son, Nicholas Brendon. He died peacefully in his sleep due to natural causes. While the world recognized him as ‘Nicky’ the actor—celebrating the many characters he inhabited throughout his career—to us, he was so much more.”

Brendon’s legacy is deeply tied to the supernatural world of Buffy, where he played the character Xander for seven years. His dedication to the role was immense; he appeared in 143 of the show’s 144 episodes.
