‘The Wire’ Actor Bobby J. Brown Dies at 62 After Barn Fire, Reports Say
An actor best known for his role in a hit HBO series has tragically passed away following a devastating fire on his property.
Bobby J. Brown, 62, who memorably played Officer Bobby Brown in the critically acclaimed drama series The Wire, died on Wednesday after sustaining severe injuries in a barn fire.
According to TMZ, which was the first to report the heartbreaking news, the actor’s daughter confirmed he died from inhalation. The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner officially ruled his cause of death as an accident, noting it was due to diffuse thermal injury and smoke inhalation.

Reports state that the fatal blaze ignited when Brown entered his barn to jump-start a vehicle. He quickly called out to a family member to grab a fire extinguisher, but by the time they returned, the structure was already fully engulfed in flames.

Before transitioning to a career on screen, Brown made his mark in the boxing ring. According to his IMDb profile, the former athlete was a professional boxer who secured five Golden Glove Championships before shifting his focus to acting.

His acting journey gained momentum with his first recurring television role as an NYPD officer on Law & Order: SVU. Over the course of his career, the talented star also shared the screen with Academy Award-winning actors such as Robert De Niro, Renée Zellweger, and James Franco.
In April 2022, his son, Bobby Brown II, proudly shared photos from the red carpet premiere of the series We Own This City. The touching snapshots featured Bobby II posing outside the event alongside his father and the show’s lead actor, Jon Bernthal.
“It always great to celebrate my dads accomplishments. He always set the bar high and he still inspires me to this day,” his son sweetly wrote in the caption.
