Influencer Petty Levels was discovered deceased in Tampa, Florida, earlier this month, according to investigating officers.
The Philadelphia rapper passed away. Her real name was Mia Armaj Bennett.
Officers were called to a neighborhood in Northwest Tampa near the airport around 1:30 pm because someone said they found a body there.
That person was later identified as Bennett, a police spokesperson told the Philadelphia Inquirer.
She died with “no initial signs to suggest that foul play was a factor,” the spokesperson said.
The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office is still looking into how and why she died and has not yet released any information.
As a result of social media rumors that she had died in Philadelphia, a family member has asked fans not to make assumptions about her death.
“These accusations and comments are not true,” the family member told the Inquirer while asking to remain anonymous.
“We don’t even know exactly what happened so if everybody could just please bear with everybody on this subject, I’m begging you, please our family is devastated.”
During high school, Bennett became well-known on social media by posting short videos of herself dancing, traveling, and being an adrenaline junkie.
Later, in 2018, she started making short rap videos, which helped her fan base grow to the point where she could release her own music.
Bennett was famous for appearing on Fredo Bang’s song “Freak” with Latto, another rapper.
Of her own songs, “Ain’t It” and “Malibu” were released.
Although she was nervous about making the jump from Instagram to the music world, the musician had high hopes for the future.
A 2019 interview with SayCheeseTV quoted Bennett as saying, “Just know that Petty Levels will not just be an Instagram name.”
“Sooner or later it will be on billboards, it will be on your playlists, it will be on the radio, it will be everywhere you go.”
Fans of the musician and Instagram influencer with over a million followers have been paying tribute to her.
